As hard as this is to admit, I have been a fan of the Simpsons since the Tracy Ullman show and I remember watching the Simpsons debut episode when it aired live over twenty years ago. That is a long time for a show to be on the air and it is to Bongo Comics credit that they have managed to put out almost 200 issues of the comic while maintaining a consistently high standard.

This issue sees the Simpsons take on reality television, more specifically eating shows such as “Man vs Food.” Of course it would of course fall to Homer to star on Crusty’s reality eating show and things rapidly go downhill from there.

As always, the writing is top notch with plenty of gags and references to past episodes of the show to keep even the most hardcore fans happy. The artwork looks like it could have been taken directly from the show and everything flows through the three rows per page format at a quick pace.

Sticking to under three dollars an issue, this is one of the cheapest kids comics on the market and is one that can be shared between comic fans of all ages. If you are not a Simpsons fan yet then I don’t think this will change your mind but for fans of the show it will give you a fix while the show is on repeats for the summer.

7 Word Summary: Fans of the show will love it.

About Matthew Szewczyk

I have been a comic book fan since the early eighties and have read thousands of comics during that time. Some of the first comic books I remember buying with my own money at the local supermarket are Secret Wars #1, the Nam #1 and Batman #426 featuring the Death of Jason Todd. Yes, I did call the 900 number once. I voted for him to die because I did not think DC would actually do it. My bad. In the late eighties I wrote, drew and published a number of mini-comics and fanzines including Hero 358, Death Dealer and Thunder Review. These days I mainly read comics that I would not mind if my seven year old son picks up and looks at. Well, that and the fact I am still a big kid at heart. Follow me on Twitter, my user name is Matesamo and let me know your comic related feedback.
