Hello Actioneers!
We’re still reeling from the great response we had at San Diego and especially at our Captain Action Panel ! it was so encouraging to meet so many passionate fans – we appreciate the enthusiasm and can only say ” keep it comin’!”
Our friends at Diamond showcased the upcoming Thor, Loki and Dr. Evil toys for Wave 2, and all 125,000 San Diego attendees seemed to love them.

CAPTAIN ACTION ROCKS IT AT SDCC!

The Captain Action SDCC Panel played to a packed room of enthusiastic fans and the only downside was that we couldn’t go longer to continue fielding the many questions. At the panel we offered insights, origin stories and sneak peeks courtesy of our packaging artist extraordinaire and SDCC special guest, Joe Jusko, Animation Director Steve Gordon, Producer Tom Tataranowicz, Gemstone Publisher J. C. Vaughn, Round 2′s creative genius Mike Murphy and Action Figure Insiders’ Daniel “Julius Marx” Pickett.
Joe and Ed were also on hand to keep them all out of mischief!
Check out this expanded panel report at Comic Book Resources!

CAPTAIN ACTION: THE ANIMATED SERIES
One of the most exciting announcements from our SDCC Panel is our new partnership with G7 Animation Studios. We’re in the early stages of development for a Captain Action animated series and/or feature. G7′s Tom Tataranowicz and Steven Gordon have developed, directed and lended their talents to other hit series such as Avengers: Earth’s Mightiest Heroes, X-Men: Evolution, Wolverine & the X-Men, The Fantastic Four, Iron Man, The Incredible Hulk, Bravestarr and Biker Mice from Mars. We’ll keep you posted!

HOLIDAY 2012 TOYS ANNOUNCED
Just like we told the San Diego Comic-Con fans, this new toy announcement is kind of like a Wave 2.5. We’ve designed it to be a fun holiday gift for the fans and collectors. Our new figure is the Captain Action Arctic Adventurer and the new costume set variants are the Classic Covers series. We’re producing them in limited quantities, and only offering them in our ‘basic’ format. They’ll be available at ToysRUs, your local comic shops, online and hobby shops in mid-October, just in time for the holiday shopping season! Here’s a sneak peek:
Arctic Adventurer Captain Action

Classic Covers: Captain America
Did you miss the Captain American set the first time around? Well, you’re gonna love this variant as we pay homage to Simon & Kirby’s Golden Age work. This costume set includes Captain America’s classic uniform with highlighted mask, his 40′s blue-white-red-white striped shield and red belt as seen on so many of those early issues. And fans will love the special collector’s postcards also included!

Classic Covers: Thor
We thought this would be a lot of fun too – a costume set celebrating the first bearded Thor issues from Marvel, as masterfully illustrated by the great Walt Simonson. This set includes the classic Thor uniform & the bearded Thor mask sculpted by Tim Bruckner. And don’t miss the special collector postcards featuring Walt’s bearded Thor covers from the 80′s.

PULP FICTION
Still looking for that perfect book to read on the beach? We’ve got it for you! Jim Beard (Gotham City: 14 Miles,14 Essays on Why the 1960s Batman TV Series Matters, Sgt. Janus) has scripted Captain Action’s first ever pulp adventure. Published by Airship 27, Captain Action, Riddle of the Glowing Men is available HERE or at the more cultured comic stores and bookstores everywhere. We’ve heard this described as “What if Ian Fleming wrote a Doc Savage adventure starring Captain Action?”

NJ COMIC EXPO AT EAST HANOVER
There’s no rest for the wicked, but we wouldn’t have it any other way. Right after San Diego Comic-Con, Captain Action was invited to be part of John Paul’s NJ Comic Expo. It was a wonderful way to spend a Sunday. Team Action especially enjoyed meeting Golden Age Legend Ken Bald.

CAPTAIN ACTION COMIC TEAM UP!
Look for RZG Comics two special Phazer team-ups in one titanic issue! In a unique sequel to the 1960′s Captain Action toy-comic (affectionately called the “yellow-book” by collectors) Phazer meets Captain Action and together with tons of guest stars battle a new alien invasion!

UP NEXT…
Right now we’re just into the swing of convention season. Next up, we’ll be at the Baltimore Comic-Con September 8 & 9th, New York Comic Con October 11 – 14 and then at Toys on the Hudson, November 23-25th during Thanksgiving Weekend. And keep your eyes and ears open for special collector variant announcements too.
