Alitha Martinez
Alitha E. Martinez is a penciller who has worked on Marvel’s Iron Man and NBC’s Heroes tie-ins. She is currently working on New Crusaders.
Martinez started working in the comics industry in the 1990s as an assistant to Joe Quesada on Azrael & Ash and Daredevil, then as an inker’s assistant on Aquaman. She got her first headlining role as artist on Iron Man.
In addition to her creator-owned work, she is currently working for Graphic Universe. Her former Iron Man editor Bobbie Chase recently brought her on as a fill-in artist on the Gail Simone-scripted Batgirl series.
Her exquisite attention to detail is a wonder to behold. Her work can be found in issues of Black Panther, Iron Man, Spider-Girl Battlebook: Streets of Fire, Shi, X-Men: Black Sun, Marvel Age: Fantastic Four, Voltron: Defender of the Universe, and NBC’s Heroes. She is also the illustrator of Twisted Journeys #12: Kung Fu Masters, Quest for Dragon Mountain, and Vampire: My Boyfriend Bites for Lerner Publications. She also does political cartooning for the New York Post.
