Yankee Girl page 4Presstime is rapidly approaching for our YANKEE GIRL: Stars and Stripes Forever one shot which will ship to Diamond around the end of March. All art for the never-before-seen stories is finished and in hand, and we are preparing to begin imposition and prepress work. Check out a page or two of the astounding finished art for the YG story penciled by Rock Baker and inked by the incomparable Jeff Austin. Old Glory never looked better than when draped over the winsome form of Lauren Mason, as rendered by these two masters of the “good girl” art genre. In addition to this and the 16-page lead story (produced by the team of Bill Black, Eric Coile and Scott Shriver), the book will contain reprints of a trio of great AC YANKEE GIRL Yankee Girl page 8stories from the 1990′s, BOTH ACTUAL Golden Age YG stories produced by Harry “A” Chesler Publications in the 1940′s ( the ONE actually published in Dynamic Comics #23, AND the second one NOT to see print in the GA at all, which in fact was not seen anywhere until Israel Waldman’s I.W. Comics imprint used it inthe early 1960′s); a text write-up by Bossman Bill chronicling the short but bizarre Golden Age history of YG, PLUS a full story reprint of an obscure Harry “A” Chesler superheroine known as KITTY KELLY, which may or may NOT have been a prototype for YANKEE GIRL at Chesler- OR the character YANKEE GIRL morphed into there, or— well, there is SOME strange connection between the KITTY KELLY and YANKEE GIRL. We’ll let you read all the storites, and see if YOU can figure it out. YG has always been one of AC’s most popular supporting characters, and several adventures set to appear as back-ups in future issues of FEMFORCE are currently in the works. One prominent YG saga NOT to be reprinted or touched on in this volume is the YANKEE GIRL graphic novel, TIMESTORM. (And if you’re curious about YG’s origin, we suggest you pick up TIMESTORM, as her origin is another thing that will NOT be covered in this impending one-shot.) If you haven’t already booked your preorder for YG at your comic shop, there is still time. Simply tell your favorite comic book retailer you’d like to order YANKEE GIRL: STARS AND STRIPES FOREVER #1; DCD item #DEC110766, from the December issue of Diamond Previes, and he’ll make sure you get your copy as soon as the book ships at the end of March.
