The story sets up nicely so that in the first issue you discover who Eugenie Markham is and how she became a Shaman. You get to see her in action both as a Shaman and in her personal relationships.
Eugenie Markham is a freelance shaman, it’s so hard to get a staff shaman job these days. She is trained by her step-father who is also a freelance shaman unbeknownst to her Mother. Her job is to banish or slay any misbehaving ghost that have crossed over from the Otherworld to cause trouble in our world. She is known to them as Odile, Dark Swan, from Swan Lake. She is the most successful assassin of their kind.
Eugenie real name has now become known on Otherworld, and in the whole names have power mystic world this may be a problem. Her step-father reassures her that his name became known on Otherworld and it didn’t cause trouble for him.
Odile has to decide if she will take a mission to cross over to the Otherworld in her physical form to save a teenage girl from Aeson, one of the rulers of the many realms in the Otherworld, but she thinks it may be a trap.
It is they type of story that would appeal to the legion of Harry Potter fans if only Harry Potter were a woman who can kick some ass!
